Michelle Kwan was a born to be truly the most remarkable female figure skater that the world has ever known. When Michelle was at the young age of 5, the Kwans hired a very well known coach, Frank Caroll. Soon Michelle and her older sister, Karen, moved to Arrowhead to train at Ice Castle.Michelle Kwan placed a disappointing ninth place in the 1992 U.S. Junior National Championships, but she kept on going. Michelle was desperate to compete in the senior level, but Frank refused. Michelle needed to gain some more experience and strength. But when Frank was out of town, Michelle told her parents that Frank permitted her to compete in the U.S. Nationals. Michelle surprised herself, the judges, and the nation with her wonderful performance. Michelle landed all of her triple jumps and nailed her spins. Her skating was truly brilliant! Michelle did better in the senior level than the juniors! Michelle Kwan placed sixth.
